For those who could not attend the Annual Meeting and Picnic on August 8th, here are some highlights of what you missed. We had over 150 in attendance – which exceeded our turnout last year. With Chairman Mike Brown conducting the meeting, attendees heard reports from Board Officers and our Ranch Manager, and presentations by County Commissioner Mark Dowaliby, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tingle, Patrol Corporal Jennifer Plutt, of the Park County Sheriff?s Office, and County Public Works Department (formerly Road and Bridge) Transportation Supervisor Tammy Crawford.?? Each of our speakers allowed plenty of time for questions and discussion of many of the current issues affecting our quality of life on ?The Ranch.?
This year attendees were treated to a menu of smoked brisket, as well as hamburgers and hot dogs from Skanga Meat Company, and a host of homemade dishes and desserts brought by Association members. Door prizes of gift certificates from Quincey?s Steak House, Skanga Meat Company, and Storyville Theater in Salida were awarded. The White Elephant auction raised $100 – all going to the Park County 4-H Club.

Last but not least, those gathered enjoyed live entertainment from some of the Ranch of the Rockies? string musicians ? ?The Ranch Hands,? as dubbed by a member of the audience. ?The group included Sharon DeLaney on bass, Debra Edell and Paul Johnson on guitar, and yours truly on banjo. These musicians, along with others, typically get together every other Thursday evening during the summer months. All musicians living on the Ranch are invited to join in. Contact Debra Edell (719) 207-9904 for time and venue.
