RANCH OF THE ROCKIES UPDATE

Update on 20th

Ice Cream Social, Annual Meeting, and Picnic Recap

Wow!  What a great weekend we had! While the evenings were chilly, the days were seasonally cooler making for a perfect gathering. The weekend started with the Friday evening Ice Cream Social at the Pavilion. Although we had about 100 people, we had loads of ice cream, and mountains of every imaginable topping. This was followed by the family movie, A Dog’s Way Home, in the Pavilion complete with freshly popped popcorn and plenty of theater styled treats. Thanks to volunteers Steve and Mary Plumb, Carol Rumsey, CD Adams, and so many more that helped set up. A special thanks to Tammy Gutierrez and Brian Cook who assisted with the movie night.

Wow can also be said for the annual picnic on Saturday. Over 200 folks and families  lined up for burgers and hotdogs graced with an abundance of appetizers, side dishes, and desserts. It was amazing to observe the many volunteers who gave of their time to organize, cook, and serve for these two food events. Niki Griffin, our Board Member At Large, did an incredible job of planning and implementation for these events and fully utilized the army of volunteers who assisted her. Thank you volunteers Jim Bechtel, Larry Hartley, Richard Schoville, Julie Farr, Abby Griffin, Joe Griffin, Darrell Dupree, Carole Rumsey, Mary Plumb, and Karen Ganz. And to all others who helped set up and clean up!

And if you missed it, you also missed the afternoon of music provided by Ranch of the Rockies own, soon to be Grammy award-winning, I’m sure, Ranch Hands musical ensemble. They have an amazing repertoire of folk and mountain music. So much enjoyed! Thank you Sharon and Paul Johnson, Roger Metzinger, Jeff Deardorff, Debra Edell, Camille Davis and Craig Webb!

During the weekend, we also had two Open Top trailers available on Friday afternoon and Sunday morning at the Burn Pit for non-household trash collection. Both trailers were full by 4:00 pm on Sunday. A special thanks goes to Gloria “CD” Adams for manning the sign in station and volunteering over 10 hours to just this task. That doesn’t even count that she helped with the Ice Cream Social and the Picnic.

CD! You are simply the best!

The Annual Meeting went off without a hitch. We called the meeting to order at 9:30, had our committee reports, some questions, some laughs, and adjourned promptly before noon. Just in time for lunch!  Thanks to committee chairs Harald Schmid, Tom Wells, and Roy Wall.

Our informational speakers included the following:

  • Darryl Athherton, Ranch Member, American Legion
  • Tom McGraw, Park County Sheriff, http://www.parkco.us/88/Sheriffs-Office
  • Chris Tingle, Hartsel Fire Protection District, Chief@hartsel/fire.org
  • Kevin Borns, South Park Ambulance, http://southparkambulance.com/
  • Ray Douglas, Park County Commissioner, https://parkco.us/174/County-Commissioners
  • Scott Sloan Community Banks of Colorado, https://www.cobnks.com/
  • Marisa Neuzil, Teller-Park Conservation District, http://www.tellerparkcd.org/
  • Mary Plumb, Ranch Member, Weekend Verizon concerns with coverage and speed, https://www.verizonwireless.com/biz/realEstateInquiryForm/

During the meeting, the votes were counted for the one position on the Board to be filled. Our Secretary, Mark Wefler, announced that Dennis Ann Strong (that’s me) was elected to continue on the Board for the next three years. I thank you for your vote. If you couldn’t attend, please know that I will work hard to continue to serve you and our community. Thanks Suzan Gebow and Carole Smith for serving on the election committee.

On behalf of the Board, I want to once again send a shout out and thank you to all of the folks who volunteered and came to our Annual Meeting and Picnic weekend events. We had the tremendous opportunity to visit with a host of our returning members, and were so pleased to meet many of our newest members. However, we could not have had such success without the hard work of John Adams, Ranch Manager, and Carole Smith, Bookkeeper. They are a great team, and know how to make things happen on the Ranch.

However, we sometimes need your help to do the work of Ranch of the Rockies HOA. If you are interested in serving on the Rules Enforcement Committee or the Architectural Committee, we would surely like to know. Neither committee takes an inordinate amount of time, and it is a great way to be of service to our community. Send us an email at https://rotr.org/contact-us/
