Winter at Ranch of the Rockies

Here it is the beginning of February and snow is the on the ground. My phone has been ringing off the hook for information on who is plowing and can someone come pull me out of the snow drifts. I was happy to see the amount of help from neighbors out there helping one another even in the middle of the night.

Vehicle maintenance is a must up here checking your tires and winterizing it and that should include chains. This packed powder snow has even claimed 4wd trucks and Jeeps so please be careful when driving around ranch roads.

Hats off to Park County Road and Bridge those guys are doing a great job! I have seen them put in some long hours as they battle wind drifts. I for one appreciate their efforts of keeping the roads passable. Thanks Guys!!

Winter Activities, A lot folks have been coming up to enjoy the mountains skiing, snow shoeing and even snowmobiling, that is why living, or owning property up here is fantastic. The views of snow covered mountains are awesome and makes for some great photos.

Winter has a down side to it and unless you are prepared for it, it will sneak up and cause lots of problems. One, is the Propane in your tank if the company cannot get to it they will not fill it. If you believe it is too low, call the experts from the gas companies, they can tell you what the safe levels are. I get asked that question a lot and I believe it should never get below 30%.

Have fun this winter and be safe, wherever you go, the roads get icy and windblown and, as a Volunteer Fire Fighter, I have seen a lot of folks off in the ditch. Please Be Careful.
